**2013-14 ANNIE'S GHOSTS Great MI Read newspaper guide - 5
The Michigan Humanities Council's Great Michigan Read is a book club for the entire state. With a focus on a single book - Annie's Ghosts: A Journey into a Family Secret - it aims to connect us as Michiganians by deepening our understanding of our state, our society, and our history. The 2013-14 Great Michigan Read is a 2010 Michigan Notable Book written by Washington Post Associate Editor and Detroit native Steve Luxenberg.

Annie's Ghosts is a story about family secrets, personal journeys, genealogy, mental disability and illness, poverty, and immigration. It is a story of re-framing one's self-understanding once a family secret is revealed, providing insight into how our identities are shaped by learning something shockingly new about our family history.

The Michigan Humanities Council partnered with Detroit Media Partnership to print and distribute a 16-page newspaper program guide that contains an excerpt from the book, along with background material and information about other free resources and events.

Michigan metro Detroit area high schools may request FREE copies of the newspaper program guide for classroom use, to be delivered by Detroit Newspapers in Education (DNIE) on Friday, March 28.

This is the fifth opportunity to order this program. Other delivery dates will be offered after the March 02 deadline for this opportunity expires.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Orders must be placed by Thursday, March 20. The pre-set quantity is 50, which can be changed after the order is created to any quantity 20 or above.  >>Order Now<<
